General Plan Draft Available for Comments

This is where you can comment on the draft Plan for Glenn County.  You can also review comments by others and add your comments.  You can also ask questions for staff on the project.  This section of the project will provide for open and accessible review, comment and development of a new General Plan for Glenn County.

Gentlemen:

I was glad to read in the draft that you are discussing greater freedom in subdividing large parcels. I think Glenn County will benefit from the following approaches:

1. Fewer high-density subdivisions with 4-5 homes per acre.

2. More low-density semi-rural districts with 1-7 acre homesites.

Glenn County is a desireable place to live because of the availability of small rural acreage (aka "ranchettes"). In particular, that's what makes the Orland area unique.

Some parcels are famously too small to farm but too large to be well utilized by working families. Allowing holders of 10-80 acre parcels to downsize to 1-7 acre homesites would both preserve the rural character of the area and better utilize the land.

Thanks for your work and service to Glenn County!
